Find Someone to Love the You You Love!

I stumbled across this quote online and had to share. It is so very true...

"Later that day I got to thinking about relationships. There are those that open you up to something new and exotic, those that are old and familiar, those that bring up lots of questions, those that bring you somewhere unexpected, those that bring you far from where you started, and those that bring you back. But the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you find someone to love the you you love, well, that's just fabulous."

True, non?

30K Around the Bay--Conquered!

ATB has come and been conquered! I did not have a million dollar day by any stretch of the imagination but I had a strong race and an on target finish. After racing yesterday it made me realize how important goin' racing is an integral part of the training process. You put the bod under some pressure while trying to incorporate everything you have been undertaking in your practice long runs. I went out too fast, had a hard time consuming my electrolyte jelly beans and did not drink enough water. Now I have a month and a little to sort these minor details out. In all honesty the minor details executed perfectly will help make race day flawless. I am thankful yesterday was not my million dollar day thus I will be making May 10th all that yo!
I am more focussed and more excited then ever...Bring it Mississauga!
My results for yesterdays race:

Such results allowed me a silver finishers medal! ☺

A shout out is most definitely in order in regards to yesterday--I have to thank all of those whom came out to support me. Hamilton is by no means a close commute especially early on Sunday morn. I really appreciated the love and support along the route. It definitely kept me going! My bro and Katy were the BEST! They not only motivated me but all those in the pack I was running with! Katy's enthusiam and pure excitement definitely gots me going! If there were an award for best "cheerer" she would most definitely be standing on top of the podium receiving a gold medal! Loves goes out to my parents--they cracked me up every time I saw them on the course! And Kitty--Thanks for the hugz at the end!... LOVES to you all!

Ok I have exactly 41 sleeps til Mississauga...I know what I need to do. Time to start a war, yo! (one of my power sentences while running ATB... ☺)

Stay tuned for pics...To be up shortly!

FYI--It was just brought to my attention: that I was actually in the top 5% of women, the Top 10% in my category and I was in the Top 12% overall at ATB! Pretty effing cool, non??

Shout Out to HANK & MIKE!

I rec'd an email from a friend today telling me that The National Post had written a piece on Hank and Mike! Woot Woot! Had to Share...

Rabbit angst is apparently a universal theme

Thomas Michael has made a pretty good career out of being an out-of-work Easter Bunny.

The gig started 10 years ago as a TV sketch and has now been turned into a movie, called Hank and Mike, and that's just the latest incarnation of the Thomas Michael-Paolo Mancini-Matthiew Klinck comedy machine (if you can call it that) that began in elementary school in the small town of Aylmer, Que., and is now in Hollywood, looking for new fields to conquer.

Michael, Mancini and Klinck met in 1991 as 12-year-old kids with ideas of a showbiz career (and also because hanging out together was a good substitute for meeting girls) that began with comedy sketches and eventually resulted in a show on a community-access TV channel that also launched an offbeat Ottawa comic named Tom Green. The show led to something bigger -- a program called Y B Normal? on the Comedy Network when they were just 17 -- where one day they came up with an idea of Easter Bunnies on their smoke break.

"It was me and Paolo in these really, really tight kids' costumes -- they were way too tight," 30-year-old Michael recalls. "Just us out standing in a field, bitching about our jobs."

The skit caught on, and the bunnies became recurring characters. When the series was cancelled after two seasons, the three friends made the bunnies, named Hank and Mike into a 15-minute short. By now the bunnies had graduated to sitting in strip clubs bitching about their jobs, but the point was the same.

"We discovered there just was all this love for these two characters," Michael says. "People really responded to it. To the absurdity of it."

Mancini, Michael and friends eventually went on to make a feature-length movie, directed by Klinck, called Greg & Gentillon, about two comedians from Aylmer, Que., trying to make it in Toronto. When it came time to write a new movie, the bunnies made their comeback.

It wasn't an easy sell. Hank -- the profane, hard-drinking Easter Bunny, played by Michael -- and Mike -- the sensitive, recovering alcoholic bunny, played by Mancini -- wear pink bunny costumes but otherwise carry on the normal (i. e. disreputable) life of two young men. They are, however, real Easter Bunnies, and when they're laid off, they try a variety of other jobs before they can fight back into the one occupation they understand: delivering candy.

The idea of turning this script into a feature movie wasn't an immediate sensation.

"We said the leads have to be me and Paolo, whom no one's ever heard of, and the director has to be our friend Matthiew, who no one's ever heard of. And I had to produce it. There were a lot of caveats going in."

But they managed to raise $2-million, and to cast two recognizable stars -- Joe Mantegna and Chris Klein--in supporting roles.

It took five years to make the movie, during which time the original distributor, Cristal Films, went bankrupt and filming in Toronto was hit by the ACTRA strike, so Hank and Mike was the only movie being shot in the province at the time. The time turned out to be February, 2007, when it was -30C every day.

However, the timing was good in one way. Hank and Mike, with its theme of laid-off workers, is timely.

"After 10 minutes, people said they forgot about the suits," Michael says. "Us too. We've been wearing Easter Bunny suits going on 10 years by the time we made the movie. For me, all I do is put on that suit and put a cigarette in my mouth and Hank just comes alive."

Hop over to the AMC @ Yonge & Dundas and catch HANK AND MIKE on the Big Screen TONIGHT @ 7:45 PM!

Spring is in the Air!

Well well well my friends it has been a long time hasn't it? my apologies for leaving y'all high and dry for so long. But I am back with much to fill you in on. It has been just about 2 months already. Sorry for sucking.

As we quickly approach April, Spring is most definitely in the air! Yessss..I can hardly wait for warm sunny days, bare legs, open toed shoes, cocktails on patios, light sweaters while the winter jackets are retired for a few months and then some. Bring it! I can hardly wait...

The last 8 weeks have been full, my friends. February was a busy month filled with uplifting moments and unfalterring fun! Would you expect any less? Didn't think so! The end of February TESTICLE FESTIVAL 2: 80's Apres Ski went off without a hitch. Steamwhistle Brewery did not know what hit them! To read more about how boadacious the event was check out: http://www.woman.ca/entertaining-&-lifestyle/794-testicle-festival-kick-cancer-in-the-balls-80s-apres-ski-style
Through co-chairing TF2 I have come in contact with some seriously amazing people. I was able to renew friendships but also form new friendships! How lucky am I? I know..you are so jelly.

February crept into March with almost no notice! It was insane. March has been slow moving but thank god for some magically sunny days.

Luckily both months have been filled with loads of laughs, Birthdays--actually tons of Birthdays!!, Dinners, Lunches & Brunches-- in/out with old and new friends, there has been some reconnecting, too much wine (when isn't there too much wine really?), Runs--long, short, fast and strong, Swims, Yoga for runners with Kiki, Work has been insanely busy, Stress/destressing, Great horos, there's been meeting, greeting and coffee doing....Life just seems to go at mach 10 and you all know thats the way vingy likes it!

As promised I have been making 09 allll mine! Moving, grooving and living as best as I can at all times.

As mentioned above I am running A LOT! I am officially registered for the Mississauga Mara on May 10th and I will be qualifying for Boston (fingys crossed!!). This coming weekend I am running in Hamilton in the 30K Around the Bay Race as a pre cursor race to Mississauga. I am hoping to "practice" my mara pace on Sunday. I will be running strong and as hard as such pace will allow. My love of running is renewed on a daily basis. It is so wonderful to be back out training again. Oh lord how I love to run! I am hoping to remain injury free--to keep so I am doing a lot of cross training and only running 3 solid runs a week! My cross training is pulling the rest of the weight.

I have begun contributing columns to an online magazine called woman.ca. I get to write like I blog which is amazing...Check'r out when you get a chance. It is an awesome website which is building a community of great people--mostly women obvi. There are some great contributors whom have some great things to say and share. I am honored and so flattered to be in their company! It is awesomely amazing!

The Bangers are still banging along! We are still up to our silly antics--they keep me sane and hell, young at heart! Bangers fo' life yo! Always... It is a very exciting time in Kiki's life right now. Her and the D-man are planning a wedding (I just got real live chills of excitement with the thought of it!) I love them both to death and beyond. As they go through the steps and cross things off their list(s), I become more and more excited--It looks like the D-man will have to be an honorary banger and I cannot speak for Kitty but that actually makes my heart smile! Kiki takes such good care of me. Thanks god for that! Do I ever love her--like a million and back!!-- and will she ever make the bestest of best moms!! wowza! and... Kitty is banging along and continuously teaching me new things, making me love myself more and more and I seem to love her more daily--is that even possible? She has this funny way of making me feel like it is all going to be a-ok. Oh thank god for the bang bangs...
Everyone in my life right now truly rocks the party. I have the greatest friends ever--they fill my heart SO full and make me smile hard and long.

I am so excited for Spring--in my mind it represents so much of new beginnings and fresh starts! I cannot wait for spring to be sprung and for all of the fun to be had! I also cannot wait to pull out my cute little running skirt and retire my running spandex pants and kick it up a notch with sleeveless dri fit shirts in pink tones!

I promise my next post won't be too long from now...be sure to check me out on WOMAN.CA
